LAPTOPS ARE ESSENTIAL TO
EDUCATION SUCCESS
One laptop in the hands of a foster student can increase the likelihood of graduation, college enrollment, future employment and even decrease depression rates.
But did you know in the US over 80% of foster youth do not having consistent access to a computer. This means they often cannot complete online homework assignments or papers, participate in zoom lessons, access learning portals, or check grades, which leads to decreased school attendance, lower grades and graduation rates?
Lack of access also keeps them from independently finding support programs, applying for jobs, college, scholarships or grants, and limits socializing with their peers, family, caseworkers or CASAs. Without consistent access youth do not build the tech skills they need for future employment.
Research has shown that foster teens given these resources experience improved grades, school and work attendance increases, pursuit of college and employment improves, depression is reduced, and self-esteem increases.
Ensuring foster youth have access to technology creates futures.
OUR RESPONSE TO COVID-19
We are working with our charity partners and foster youth nationwide to provide laptop access, grocery store gift cards, and emergency relief support during the Coronavirus pandemic.
One of the biggest needs currently is access to a home computer for foster youth to complete coursework and keep up with their peers. We are able to rapidly identify the need for computer access and dispatch a Chromebook directly to middle school, high school, and college-aged foster youth.
Your donation helps provide foster youth with technology access
As COVID-19 changes how kids learn in the classroom, it is important we ensure foster students of all ages have the laptop they need to keep up and build they future they deserve.
A tax receipt is emailed promptly after donation for your records.
