WHEN DISASTER STRIKES, WE ARE THERE
Ticket to Dream has an effective communication plan for predicted and unexpected natural disasters, or pandemics such as COVID-19. Our rapid monetary donation processes allow us to pay for hotels, food, home repairs, and essentials for the entire family.
When natural disasters strike, foster families need rapid support to re-establish housing and provide essentials in order to keep custody of foster children. Foster youth who have aged-out of care are often one emergency away from experiencing homelessness. These youth typically do not have a safety net or families to rely on when disaster strikes.
Supporting foster families during times of emergency keeps foster kids safe and reduces trauma.
OUR RESPONSE TO COVID-19
We are working with our charity partners and foster youth nationwide to provide laptop access, grocery store gift cards, and emergency relief support during the Coronavirus pandemic.
One of the biggest needs currently is access to a home computer for foster youth to complete coursework and keep up with their peers. We are able to rapidly identify the need for computer access and dispatch a Chromebook directly to middle school, high school, and college-aged foster youth.
Many former foster youth are not making enough money to pay their bills. They find themselves having to decide between groceries and utilities or rent. We are working with grocers nationwide to rapidly supply gift cards so no foster youth or their family has to go hungry. We are also working with our charity partners to provide funding for emergency support.
